“Complete Incompletion” explores the form of a series of incomplete structures from Japanese art collective ‘Unmask Beijing’ which use a classical touch that allow the viewer to fulfil the rest their own imagination. Additionally, Tomohiro Inaba added to sense of incompletion through his sculptural experiments.  When looked from a fashion perspective these ‘incomplete’ sculptures can be seen as very tall, elegant gowns.

The textiles, influenced by Tomohiro Inaba, are applied in an incomplete format down the sleeve or on one side of the garment with sections of the print missing, sometimes half. The missing parts of the print are then featured on a different garment, connecting the two separate pieces together.

The silhouette of the garments is influenced by the incomplete sculptures, with the left side of the garment being more structured to the right side, which is more relaxed. Even though geometric lines show dominance within fabric transit, soft curves can also be spotted.

Light greys work with dark greys to build a tonal and structured colour palette. Dark metallic woven rayon and light grey chiffon features a rusty orange print alongside a green faux-leather with silver metallic print. Soft charcoal PVC is used to compliment areas of the designs, sometimes playing a more dominant role in selected garments.

The motive behind my collection is to allow the audience to complete the rest of the garment using their imagination.
